About Taki Museum

TAKI

“Taki” means “song”, “to sing” or simply: “music”.

The purpose of TAKI, Andean and Amazonian Music Museum, is not only to open for the local people and visitors, an interesting exhibition of Andean and Amazonian musical instruments, but also a cultural center where we organize musical and cultural events, gatherings, workshops, sessions, we give lectures, concerts, we teach children to play, promote and support traditional music groups, etc.

OUR DIRECTOR:

Born in Lima, Peru in 1956, Kike Pinto is a musician, performer, composer, researcher and teacher.

He is the creator and director of TAKI, Andean and Amazonian Music Museum.

All instruments, approximately 400 pieces exhibited in this museum belong to Kike Pinto’s private collection. Kike has been collecting instruments, visiting native communities, interviewing makers, performers, taking part in musical and ceremonial events during the last 35 years.

WHERE ARE WE?:

TAKI is located at the ancient Inka City of CUSCO, PERU, Hatunrumiyoq St. 487-5, where we have an exhibition of the most of our Andean and Amazonian instruments.
